Matthew 4:16
“…The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light…”
In the military, we had to train to move at night. The first time out you are sitting in the woods, pitch black, scared because of sounds that you can’t see, and unsure about whether or not your eyes will adjust as promised. However, after sitting in the dark for some time, your eyes adjust, and light comes in, and you are now prepared to move.
No matter how dark it may seem right now, darkness can’t resist the light. According to Matthew 4:16, “the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light. And for those who lived in the land where death casts its shadow, a light has shined.” In this time when it seems dark, we put our trust in Jesus, that GREAT light. We cast our cares on Him, for He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7). We let our request be made known to God (Philippians 4:6-7).
Blackout drive reminds me that no darkness can stop the light and when I trust in the process the light will win. Jesus is our light. Trust the light and you will find your way.
Be blessed.

Editor note: While looking up the Philippians 4:6-7 scripture link to add to Dr. Bennett’s reflection, I saw a link for a song about it on YouTube. Down the YouTube rabbit hole I went. Sing Through The Bible is a YouTube channel by Amy Treadwell Troy (her facebook is here). It’s a neat idea. It was worth the hour or two diversion. On the channel there is also a playlist for times of fear and anxiety. as she has another neat channel for kids called Panther and Bunnycat. In any event, here is the song from that project, which includes their friends Brianna Hertzberg and Joshua Pascua. Pastor Mark
